Citizens concerned with the future of transportation in East Texas may participate in a town hall meeting with state officials later this week in Nacogdoches.
The Texas Department of Transportation is teaming with Deep East Texas Council of Governments to give residents a chance to weigh in on projects and ask questions. Unlike many public comment sessions, TxDOT officials will be able to respond to questions during this week's meeting.
"This is an excellent opportunity for the citizens of East Texas to provide feedback on regional transportation needs," said TxDOT Executive Director Amadeo Saenz. "The information we bring back will be used to shape our discussions on the future of mobility in Texas."
Three town hall meetings were held last year in Texas in McAllen, Abilene and Midland/Odessa. This will be the only one held in East Texas.
Officials will discuss future projects and their funding. Citizens are encouraged to attend the meeting in person or participate in the dialogue via Webcast on TxDOT's Website, txdot.gov. Online viewers can submit questions during the meeting.
The forum begins at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Room 2.101 of the Stephen F. Austin State University Student Center Theater, 222 Vista Drive, Nacogdoches.
