House Transportation Committee Hearing
8:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2009
Capitol Extension, E2.014

The Committee has scheduled 18 bills for hearing on Tuesday. The full agenda and links to bill can be found here.

Transportation bills of interest:

  • HB 2736 by Kolkhorst: Relating to approval and certification of certain comprehensive development agreements. Would require comprehensive development agreements for toll projects to be reviewed for "legal sufficiency" and signed by the Attorney General, be reviewed for "financial viability" and signed and certified by the Comptroller, and be be signed by the TxDOT Commissioner.
  • HB 3139 by Herrero: Relating to discount programs for certain veterans provided by toll project entities. Allows toll entities to create a discount program or waive fees for military veterans.
  • HB 4340 by Parker: Relating to the use of certain money in the state highway fund received from a project or system and held in a subaccount for the benefit of the region in which the project or system is located. Currently, only regional MPOs are allowed to use this money held in subaccounts to build eligible projects. This bill would expand that designation to allow the money to be given to municipalities, counties or local governmental entities in the region to construct, maintain, or operate eligible projects.
