Statement on Appointments to the Texas House Committee on Transportation

The following statement can be attributed to Bill Noble, executive director of Texans for Safe Reliable Transportation:

"We applaud Speaker Joe Straus for his selection of a dedicated and experienced team of Representatives for the House Transportation Committee. We look forward to working with Chairman Joe Pickett and Vice-Chairman Larry Phillips and the rest of the committee to ensure Texas has the transportation infrastructure needed to sustain and enhance our prosperity.

"Chairman Pickett has thorough knowledge of the state's transportation needs and a deep understanding of the difficult funding choices we face. Texas is growing at an average of more than 1,200 Texans each day and the 2030 Committee recently found that Texas needs an astounding $313 billion for transportation infrastructure over the next 20 years. As committee members move forward with their work, we urge them to keep all funding tools available including comprehensive development agreements, user fees through tolls, enhancements to traditional fuel taxes, and local option funding."
